The U.S. Office of Naval Research creates a program to train Marines in Afghanistan to follow their intuitions when faced with the dangers of unknown terrain. The training touts the benefits and value of “implicit learning”: knowledge gained from unconscious yet accurate awareness of one’s surroundings.
